A small plane crashed Thursday afternoon on the north side of Stillwater Reservoir in Herkimer County, killing the pilot, according to Robert A. Mackenzie III, Lewis County emergency medical services coordinator. The pilot of the plane was identified in broadcast reports as Schiele “Bill” Brewer, 76. His single-engine plane crashed after taking off in Boonville.
