Lowville man sent to prison on meth-making charge

A Lowville man who made methamphetamine was sent to state prison, with the possibility of entering an alternative-to-incarceration program. Bradley J. Streeter, 24, of 8353 Meadow Road, was sentenced Jan. 29 in Lewis County Court to 1½ years in prison and one year of post-release parole supervision, with Judge Daniel R. King recommending that he be included in the prison system's shock incarceration program.

Boonville man accused of drunken driving in Turin

Jared O. Platt, 23, of Boonville, was charged by Lewis County Sheriff's deputies with two-counts of felony driving while intoxicated, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a motor property damage accident and other vehicle and traffic violations late Friday night on State Route 26. Police said they found Mr. Platt asleep in the driver seat of a 2002 Saturn sedan upon arriving at the scene. Mr. Platt's blood alcohol content was listed at 0.17 percent.

Two men were accused on July 7 of leaving the scene of an accident the previous evening on East Road in the town of Leyden, Lewis County sheriff's deputies released Monday. Deputies said Johnny Rodriguez, 29, of 3631 River Road, was driving north at a high rate of speed behind a vehicle being driven by Kody A. Holman, 24, of 1958 Route 12D, Boonville, when Mr. Holman came upon a slower-moving vehicle and had to slow down quickly.

Four teen hikers located in Watson through cellphone signal

State forest rangers last week were able to locate four teens who became lost while hiking in the Independence River Wild Forest in the town of Watson through their cellphone signal. The quartet - three boys ages 16 to 18 from Constableville, Port Leyden and Boonville and an 18-year-old girl from Turin - on July 18 became lost while hiking from Beach Mill Road to Gleasman Falls, and authorities were alerted at 8:40 p.m., according to a state Department of Environmental Conservation release.

A Boonville woman was injured in a one-car crash at 4 a.m. Thursday at Echo Lake and Potato Hill roads in the town of Boonville. Oneida County sheriff's deputies said Audna Nellenbach, 44, was driving west on Echo Lake Road when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the "T" intersection of Potato Hill Road, causing her vehicle to travel across the road into a ditch and strike a rock pile head on.

After a brief end-of-summer respite, the Adirondack Community Chorus has announced the rehearsal schedule for its upcoming Christmas concerts. The chorus will work on music for two concerts: "The Best Time of the Year," to be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Lewis County Historical Society, 7552 S. State St., Lowville, and at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Boonville Presbyterian Church, 121 James St., and "A Gospel Christmas" to be performed at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Forest Presbyterian Church.
