Moped traffic stop leads to DWI charges for Remsen man
BOONVILLE, N.Y. A Remsen man is facing DWI charges after a traffic stop in Boonville, according to State Police. Kevin Barnhart, 41, of Remsen, was interviewed and then charged with aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content level of .21 percent, aggravated unlicensed operation, unregistered vehicle, no license plate and operating a vehicle without insurance.
West Leyden home, garage heavily damaged by Monday morning fire
West Leyden firefighters at 8:18 a.m. were called to the Dennis A. and Pauline Williamson residence, 5047 Golden Road, and requested mutual aid from Constableville, Boonville and Turin fire departments. The fire, believed to have been caused by a waste oil heater, destroyed a garage and caused extensive fire, smoke and water damage to the attached home, according to Lewis County Fire Coordinator Robert A. The 10th annual Kelberman Center Walk for Autism will be held this Saturday at Harland J. Hennessey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5538, 108 Park Ave. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., and a walk and 5k run will start at 10:30 a.m. Participants who bring at least $25 in pledges will receive a T-shirt.
